Vion Tilburg B.V.

The Tilburg site of Vion mainly slaughters Dutch cattle. as well as organic cattle for De Groene Weg. In the cutting hall, cattle is deboned and cut to size for customers. The meat is then vacuum-sealed and stored in the cold store. Vacuum sealing extends the meat’s shelf-life. A characteristic of Dutch beef is that the taste improves when the meat is ‘hung’ (ages). The Tilburg site has some 360 employees, including flex workers.

Vion Tilburg

Gheorghe came to the Netherlands in 2016. The economic situation in Rumania was poor, and despite his good education it was difficult for him and many of his countrymen to find permanent work. His own furniture company went bankrupt. He registered with an employment agency in the Netherlands and ended up at Vion in Tilburg. After having worked in the packaging department for a year, Vion realised that he had more to offer. He currently works as foreman (in training) in the Shipping department and has a permanent contract.
