Vion Scherpenzeel mainly processes pig middles (the middle sections). Some 1,200 employees work at this location, including flex workers. The product range includes bacon, ribs – with and without bone -, bellies, belly strips, trimmings, rind, trimmed bacon, spare ribs and pork fillets. All products come both sliced and whole in bulk packaging. Specialising in the processing of middles, the Scherpenzeel location supplies a lot of smoked bacon to the English market. The main export countries apart from Europe are Japan, China, South Korea, the USA, Canada and Australia.
