Waste water engineer
What has your career been like?
I studied environmental technology and started work for VION in 2007 as a waste water treatment technician. Since then I have held this position at VION Ingredients division’s technology department.
What is important to you in your work?
Being assigned sufficient responsibility within the company. This makes the job challenging and keeps your career moving. It is my experience that VION offers this opportunity!
What are your tasks?
I work on water-related projects for VION Ingredients’ various locations. This varies from research projects to optimisation cycles or even entire new construction projects. Within these projects I provide the process technology designs and participate in related processes such as applying for permits or implementation.
What are the challenges you face?
VION Ingredients has many production facilities and therefore also many interesting cases to work on. You therefore have to distribute your attention across multiple subjects without losing sight of quality. This is a challenge that I face on a daily basis.
What interests you in your work?
VION is an international company which means you acquire a lot of interesting experiences abroad. This makes the work atmosphere interesting alongside the fact that – as a divisional employee – you work on various projects.
What does your team mean to you?
When I started work at VION, our team consisted of three people. As this moment, there are seven of us. Our team includes various disciplines. We work independently, but support one another where necessary and this works really well.
What is VION’s culture like?
VION has an open culture and is a ‘fast’ company i.e. it is decisive and capable. In spite of the wide range of activities (within food products and food ingredients) there is unity within the business.
What makes VION an appealing employer?
The company’s size, the range of products and production processes, its international nature and speed are just a few of the things that make VION very appealing.
What has been your best moment so far?
The successful conclusion of an interesting research project on waste water treatment. It seems to have great potential for the future! And the energy recouping project in Lingen. There we treat the waste water, ferment the silt and generate energy which we can use at that location.
