Operations Manager
What has your career been like?
I started working for this company 20 years ago as a shift manager and over the years I developed into a production manager. After the company’s acquisition by VION I was given the opportunity to become Operations Manager.
What is important to you in your work?
The nice thing about my work and our company is that every day is different. Every day presents new challenges and you meet new people.
What are your tasks?
I work on the further standardisation of the production process and the continued improvement of product quality on a daily basis. Doing things more efficiently, making agreements and implementing these. That is what I do.
What are the challenges you face?
At the moment I am working on a project to further automate the production lines. The challenge is to do so as quickly as possible so you can see where you are and how to continue from that point on.
What interests you in your work?
The variety of people and positions I deal with on a daily basis. The space that exists to implement new ideas.
What does your team mean to you?
Having a good team around you is very important: you need to know what you can expect from one another because – ultimately – you have to book results together. Naturally, a day trip with the team is tons of fun!
What is VION’s culture like?
VION Food Group is a major company. Though there is a pleasantly low threshold for the exchange of ideas: it is easy to address people and everyone is very open to new developments. Because the company’s results are always properly communicated there is plenty of drive to improve on them.
What makes VION an appealing employer?
Because VION is a massive organisation there are always changes and developments underway. A great deal of investment takes place. This provides a certain level of security.
What was your best moment so far?
After the acquisition by VION in 2007 I was invited to the VION Days in September 2007. This was an annual event which staff from the global organisation were invited to and which was characterised by sport and team building. That was a great experience!
